“ The staff was super friendly and welcoming. They were attentive and courteous. The food was mediocre. My corn chicken noodle soup needed salt and pepper. The mashed potatoes looked like they were from a box. The taste was okay but everything looked like it came from a can. The saving grace was the eclair dish and pumpkin torte. My friend had the pecan pie and custard pie. Even though the custard pie was different she said it was super tasty. For a 30 minute wait, it didn't seem worth it. Restaurant is very clean and well kept. ”

“ It's popular for a reason folks and if you know, you know. If you don't know, you should go. Dienner's is a Lancaster institution. I started going there with my grandparents when I was a kid when the restaurant was much smaller and under the radar, but even then it was the best meal in town. Sometime in the 2000s they expanded and remodeled. They also became one of the tourist bus stops (worse now that the Good n' Plenty has shuttered) which is great for their business but makes for a long wait for other folks to get a table (and they don't take reservations). The Restaurant: Even with the expansion, the space is pretty small. There are two rooms: the main room that houses the buffet and a smaller annex room that could use a makeover. The decor in the main room is cute contemporary country. When you check into the hostess stand, expect to be greeted by a young Amish or Mennonite girl who will give you a buzzer and tell you approximately how long the wait is. On average, I'd expect something just under an hour. People hang out outside on the benches or walk around to the nearby gift shop to pass the time. I will say I've never waited for longer than the estimated wait time and sometimes considerably less. But other than the gift ship there really is nothing to do within buzzer range so maybe bring a book or plan to hang in your car. Also, this restaurant is Amish/Mennonite owned. Most of the servers, hostesses, and cooks are Amish or Mennonite so if you want a genuine "Amish" experience this is a great pick as opposed to someplace like Miller's or Bird n Hand. Also keep in mind that this means they do not serve alcohol, close for the day at SIX PM, and are wholly closed on Sundays. The Food: This is Amish food done well. The buffet itself is rather- well quite- small given the traffic but this place is quality over quantity all the way. There are three "stations" so to speak: salad bar, mains, and desserts. The salad bar is your standard variety with some extra Amish additions like pickled eggs and broccoli salad as well as a rotating selection of a couple soups. The main buffet has what you would think but it's GOOD and PIPING HOT, which is one of my major issues with other buffets in this area. Who wants to eat cold mashed potatoes??? It really ticks me off but that's for another review and I won't name names right now. Speaking of mashed potatoes, the mashed potatoes at Dienner's are among the best I have ever had and they have both brown and white gravy to top them off. The stuffing (aka "dressing") is also unbelievable and the fried chicken, fried shrimp, and buttered noodles also solidly deliver. Again, all piping hot. They literally change the trays every few minutes it all goes so fast. Other offerings usually include meatloaf (decent), ham (meh), a few veggies (taste canned), and some sort of item of the day. Unlike some of the other local buffets, there is no carving station. For dessert, there are the standard crumbles, puddings, etc. but there is also a separate pie case where you can select from a variety of house-made offerings. by the slice. My husband loves this. (FYI Dienner's also sells whole pies separately when you settle up if you want to take something home). Also: the price here is around $17 for dinner and really can't be beat. They also serve breakfast but haven't been and they don't seem to have the capacity for any sort of made to order eggs/omelettes so keep that in mind. ”

“ My siblings and I came to Lancaster Co. for a short trip, and ate at Dienner's our first night here. It was delicious! Home cooked food, with friendly servers, and the most delicious deserts too! It was warm and cosy, and I'd go back anytime! ”

“ This is our 2nd visit, one for dinner and we did wait for a table and this morning for breakfast and we were able to be seated right away. There is parking behind the restaurant. The service is efficient especially if you are doing the buffet. The food is hearty and I tried the baked oatmeal which was yummy and a variety of items the scrambled eggs (no milk) and sausage, the home fries and more. It was all good. The interior is quaint and simple which I liked. ”

It's an along the smaller side compared to some of the other buffets in the area, but that doesn't detract from the experience because you have every type of entrée that you would need. “ Visited the one and only Dienner's in Lancaster county with family. Slight lunch wait but bearable, they had a good beeper system and the large place turned over tables efficiently. Families of all backgrounds and sizes here, enjoying honest goodness simple well prepared food. They take pride in their work, and it shows. Everything good, and the pies / pecan and vanilla soft serve ice cream just out of this world. When I visit the area, I always come here. Good stuff, honest food, nothing fancy. At less than 20 per person for lunch, you can't ask for much more than this. Love it, for me and family anyway. ”
